There are a variety of plumbing problems that can occur at your home. Some problems can be fixed quite easily by you while there are a few that are more serious in nature and may require the services of a professional plumber.
A plumbing system is not a simple thing that can be done by anybody. It is a very complex network of pipes, components, mechanisms and other such devices. This means it is important to know when your plumbing requires a professional plumber.
You can fix a vast majority of plumbing problems at home quite easily without needing a professional plumber. Quite often all it takes to fix a plumbing problem at home is a basic toolkit. Some of the plumbing works that you can do without needing a professional plumber include:

-Flooding
-Noisy Pipes
-Running Toilet
-Backed up Toilet
Let us understand how you can complete this task without a professional plumber.
Flooding: There are plenty of reasons for flooding. These include:
-Seepage from cracked pipes
-Corroded water heater
-Overflowing faucet/toilet

The immediate step in the event of flooding is to shut the water off. Normally, you can fix the problem. However, if it is absolutely necessary, hire a professional plumber so that he can identify and rectify the problem. For instance if you have standing water that has to be pumped out, you may require a sump pump so that water can be extracted. In case of a flooding, always be alert for the potential danger from electrical wiring. Never stand in water and work with electrical outlets or wiring.

Noisy Pipes:
Whether it is banging or hammering or whether it is high pitched squeaking, water pipes can produce a wide variety of sounds that can be real bothersome, to put it very lightly. The only way you can solve this problem is to identify the sounds and know from which pipe the sounds are emanating from.
Let us understand what banging is. Well, banging pipes usually refers to loose pipes. To solve this problem all that you have to do is add more straps to anchor the pipe and cushion the pipes with a rubber blanket.

When it comes to squeaking, only hot water pipes squeak when the pipe expands in its strap this causing friction. In this case, the problem is completely different from banging pipes but the solution is the same for both. Use a rubber cushion between the strap and the pipe.

A running toilet is a common plumbing problem. However, you can fix this problem by replacing the ball assembly or the faulty flapper. In a few cases though, you may be required to clear out the mineral deposits from the tank itself. Using vinegar, boiling water and baking soda will help you clean quickly.

Clogged toilets can be pretty worse, particularly when you are using somebody else’s toilet. In such situations if you flush once and the water level raises, do not flush again. Instead, remove the tank lid and push the ball down so that it closes the flush valve.
Lastly, these are some of the plumbing works that you can do without needing a professional plumber.
